Took bus number 195 from my place than when I boarded the bus, it was full, so I had to stand. I saw a man sitting on the green seats alone with his bag on the same seat beside him, and there was this old man whose also standing with me, I wanted to approach the young man but he alighted on the next stop. For god's sake, please, if you are a person who's blessed with a good vision, please read the message beside those seats, those seats were prioritized for people of old age and ladies who are pregnant, if you fit neither of those categories, please stand and make way for those who need those seats more than you do!

Upon reaching my destination, I went up to Popular Bookstore in search of those Ziploc bags but to no avail despite my endeavors, so I went down to level 1 and have a smoke, I was sitting near the MRT station and while I was smoking, I noticed this old man sitting on a wheelchair because of an amputated right limp, he was selling packets of tissue papers. No one wanted to purchase the materials that he was trying hard to sell. I stayed on for 20 minutes to observe that poor old man and his surroundings but his sales still remained static thus I took out $10 and went over to asked him how much he charged for the tissues papers, he told me, "$1 for 3 packets." So I took 1 packet and pushed the $10 to him and told him in hokkien, "uncle, heng li lim kopi eh." Meaning, "Uncle, keep the $10, for you to enjoy coffee." After that, I proceeded my way home.

It's really disheartening to know that not many Singaporeans, young and old alike tends to help people like that old man. I was proud being a Singaporean while I was serving my time with the Army because of the camaraderie and brotherhood, we laughed together and defended our motherland together. When I was being discharged from the Army, I saw and felt a whole different Singapore. At times like these, I'm really ashamed to call myself a Singaporean. If we, as Singaporeans, fail to unite and help each other along the way, who's going to help those people that I encountered earlier? United Nations? World bank? One must know that even this amount of monetary aid is not huge, all these little gestures bring smiles upon them. I hate those people who's so highly educated and wears a tie to work, when they passed by the old man on the wheelchair, they didn't even bother to shoot a glance at him, or they're just pretending not to know. I may be poor in my academics and my lungs may have blackened due to smoking but my heart is still red and my soul is still conscience. How could our politicians require us to move on or ahead while there are people who don't even care about donating a dollar or two to the poor? I don't think I'll join the political movement of "Moving Ahead." Instead, I think I'll stay behind to push the wheelchairs of those being left behind. Please Singaporeans, if you're reading this, please open your eyes to see and your hearts to feel. Stop pounding on whether was it wrong for Zidane to head butt another player. Singapore is a clean, green and safe country but it's never enough when our own peoples are exhibiting selfish acts. United we stand, divided we fall; I love my country, so please love it together with me. Adios!

Show me the money!!!

08.07.2006

So excited, I'll be embarking on a trip to Malaysia in less than a week's time. It's my very first "baby step to exploring the world." Hmm... many people said that I'm carrying too much stuff over there but to me, it's important to be self-sufficient as you are traveling alone. I do not want to be short of anything when I'm there. Many times, army divisions got swept off from tactical maps because of logistical inadequacy. Take a look at the German 6th Army commanded by General Friedrich Von Pualus based in Stalingrad, Russia. Several factors caused the doom of the 6th Army. Logistical support could have maintained the Army's fighting momentum a little longer but instead of delivering 300 tons of supplies per day, which the 6th Army badly needed and was promised by the Luftwaffe (German Air Force), the encircled 6th Army only received 70 tons of supplies per day, this ultimately sent many combatants from the 6th Army to their unmarked graves. I based on this scenario as a principle of self-sufficiency, one can never depend on others for things that you badly need. For more information regarding General Friedrich Von Pualus and the German 6th Army's campaign against Russia, visit http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/GERpaulus.htm Adios!

Of monsters and men...

07.07.2006

I was sitting down on a nice cosy sofa and reading this book, it's all about somewhere along this planet, there existed an imaginary little nation that claims to own a democratically political system. But except, this so-called democratic system imposing on this imaginary tiny land is a terrifying one, it's a place where your thoughts could land you in jail, Where freedom of speech is only skin-deep and not deep into their souls, stating of ideas or acts of revolt must proceed with utmost precautions thus resulting in writers being forced to write something that doesn't exist and it must be in accordance to the political figures. Oh yeaaaa... democracy is taking on a whole new form. Foreign political analysis have proved themselves right by saying, "this little nation can't change its political system democratically." I dare not speak much for fearing that the walls have ears and who knows? Next day, I may be reckoned as a "partisan of politics" and than when I wake up the next morning thinking that it was a nightmare only to be turned out as the truth. Now, I'm beginning to get scare of this entire storybook about this imaginary land and I'm looking forward to a vacation next week. He just said it was one of his friend's birthday and they are going out to celebrate. So I guess I'll be alone just like those times that were behind me. Sometimes isolation could be a good matter for it will not hinder ones freedom of movement and freedom of thinking. Fortunately, I've trained myself for times like these for many years. It was quite tough at the beginning and I nearly went mad but as time comes to pass, I persevered from days to weeks, from weeks to months, from months to years, doing things that I love or hate alone without the opinion and hindrance of others. I felt like I knew myself more than ever. I felt my optimum performance could only unleash itself when no other souls join my party and through that, I also gained another advantage; that was my rationality and judgment has been sharpen dramatically. I operated better when left alone. I dare people to challenge the very words I'm uttering now that not many people will emerge out the way I did, from many people's experiences, prolonged exposure towards isolation or seclusion may go hand in hand with depression or even anxiety, they just couldn't stand being alone. Sometimes they would even become over paranoid till the point whereby they have to be kept for close observation in a ward from the metal institution. It's a skill not easily obtained and cut out for everyone. Even with the frequent silence that I've lived with for years, at times my mind would tend to sidetracked but after I've regained my composure, I told myself, "Happy or not, at least you are being the real you. Take it or leave it." Guess I'll be there enjoying the sights and sounds in KL alone like a carefree bird soaring a limitless skies. Gees, come to think of it, I've got to get a map pretty soon as I'll be handicapped with my friend cum tour guide gone. My reasons for the visit would be shopping, eating, sigh seeing, enjoying the nightlife there and meeting a forum mate by the name of Jason, who's a Malaysian citizen. Well, I'm feeling quite excited and nervous at the same time for it's my first time leaving the motherland and traveling alone. Now I'm busting my brains on this checklist: What should I pack for this trip? Fuck man... like going to war.

Traveling Checklist

Caps x2 ea

Shirts x4 ea

Jeans x3 ea

Bermudas x1 ea

Sleeping Shirts x3 ea

Sleeping Shorts x3 ea

Underwear x4 ea

Belt x1 ea

Swimming Shorts x2 ea

Swimming Goggles x1 ea

Towel x2 ea

Tooth Brush x1 ea

Tooth Paste x1 ea

Cash x1800 riggit and SGD $200

First Aid Kit x1 ea (Includes Panadol, Diarrhea pills, Micro Fiber, Medicated Oil and disposable instant cold packs)

Digital Camera x1 ea

Digital Camera Charger x1 ea

Handphone x1 ea (Auto-Roaming yet to be activated)

Handphone Charger x1 ea

Passport x1 ea

Photo Copied Version of Passport x1 ea

Shoes x1 pr

Sandals x1 pr

Socks x2 pr

Comb x1 ea

Pen And Notepad x1 ea

Ziploc Bags x5 ea (I still don't have the slightest clue on where to get those big ones)

Swiss Army Knife x1 ea (I seriously hope that they won't detain me as a terrorist suspect)

Rubber Bands x2 ea

Small Pillow x1 ea

Large Plastic Bag x1 ea

Condoms x2 ea (Don't ask, I might get lucky)

Power Adapter x1 ea

I-pod Shuffle x1 ea

Traveling Alone

30.06.2006

Hmmm... Now I'm starting to ponder if I should go to KL with her? Come to think of it now, it's really inconvenient for the both of us. Not only I got to care for my own safety, I got to care for her safety as well especially there's a rapist still on the loose there and what if people she knows, manages to spot her with another guy checking into a hotel together. Well, I'm not afraid of being spoken behind my back as I'm conscience of what I do but on the other hand, it's her dignity we are talking about, she travels to KL with her girl friends most of the time and if they sees us together, gossips will start to spread like wild fire. So I guess it's quite problematic after all. Shouldn't have asked her without keeping all these issues in check. I think I'm just being selfish because I need a company so I won't feel isolated and bored. Forget it, I'll clarify with her than go alone. Wahaha... friends out there who wants to join me, please feel free to do so. Adios!

ps: Don't worry, I'm not going to the above mentioned countries in one whole shot... I was nearly scared to death. I'm afraid of these nasty looking 6 legged bacteria infested roaches. After I've achieved a bittersweet victory with that roach, I immediatly disposed the poor bastard's copse. Shortly after, this sweet memory surfaced on my mind while I was having my dinner. It's about this girl whom I had a crush with, while we were working in the store, checking the stocks, she found a roach in the box of spares and she was yelling for help, I thought what on earth happened and she told me there was a roach in the box. Immediate, my blood froze as these 6-legged roaches freaked me out too but I wanted to protect her and eased her fears, so I forced a smile upon my face and went in without any hesitation than when I looked into the box, the roach was nowhere to be found, so I figure it must be hiding amongst the spares in the box and I got to be weary not to jump and scream like a pussy when it turns out to be a roach that flies. Haha. So I took out the spares one at a time and placed them on the floor. Alas! The roach was in sight, I quickly told my beloved colleague to hand me a tissue paper but she hesitated a second before running off to get those tissues. Right at that moment, my heart was shouting at her, "Dear, quick! I'm facing a crisis right here man."Hahaha, when she passed me the tissues, she stepped outside with a flash and again I told myself, "come on man, you can do it, just kill it and get it over with, be a man, do the right thing." Than with one swoop, I crushed the roach, damn! It was the very first time I drew first blood on these roaches and after the killing, I tried to maintain my coolness and walked out to the rubbish bin and threw the tissues away but in actual fact, my balls were half dangling in mid-air dude. Wahahaha. What an experience man, since it was someone you loved versus something you are scare of and you're standing in between them. Quite stressful I must say, haha. Now when I come to think of it, this one sided love is still a sweet memory to me, I'm jotting this down because if one day, should I suffer from amnesia when age catches up with me and when I come across this site, maybe it would help me regain some of the fond memories that I once lived to experience. No amount of monetary power could ever obtain a memory back when it's lost or erased. I'll be on overseas shortly after I've collected my new passport this Friday. I'm still pissed with my friends for making a conclusion that totally means no sense to me. They wanted to go JB instead of KL. Landslides and blockage of the expressways to KL were the main reasons given by them but hey, I told them it wouldn't take that long for those bozos to clear the way and settle down since we were planning to embark the next month but I forgot what kind of crappy reasons they gave me because my whole head was filled with the word "Piss", yes, with a capital P! God dam it, JB is such a crime-ridden place and it's called a criminal paradise for some. It really beats me on what you could do there besides getting beaten by some thugs, robbed, killed or even ass raped by some die hard gays whose dying to try a piece of Singapore ass. Don't laugh my dear viewers, its so real over there. The crime rates are at their staggering heights in JB. I really hope my friends will be safe while they are happily shopping for cheap stuff man... and hope you guys will understand why I wouldn't want to tag along, it's because I want to have fun man, not fall victim to their syndicate activities in JB dude. Wish you guys a bon voyage. Than her husband, David drove us to Sentosa and we strolled along Palawan beach. After that my little cousin said she wanted to visit the underwater world, so my Uncle brought 2 tickets for my cousin and himself while the rest of us settled at Delifrance. After Sentosa, we went to my Uncle and Aunt's condo for a swim, quite a lovely and cozy condominium with sufficient facilities. When we were done with swimming, my little cousin and me were staving. The whole group went down to Jumbo Seafood Restaurant located at East Coast Park. God blessed us, the food over there have never ever failed our taste buds. I think I'll be organizing a trip there with my friends during my 21st birthday instead of booking an entire hotel ballroom and look for stage concerts with would cost me around $6000-$7000 SGD. Just use $1000 SGD and the entire table of friends would enjoy the food so much till they stop begging for food for the entire week and the best part will be that I could save up the $5000 to $6000 that I planned to use. Than we went to the Singapore Night Safari during the evenings, haha, I went there just the month before, so nothing much to expect for me. I also brought a little gift for my little cousin from the Safari, she wanted a luminous tapir keychain which costed about $6.90. We reached home by 8 plus I guess. Went to bath, using my PC now and last but not least, go to sleep! I wanted to enquire something from him in regards of blogging. Didn't manage to work on my blog as I was in a fuming state because of some friends who cancelled a perfectly planned trip to KL and decided to head for JB instead. WTF man. So Paul and me went opposite to have coffee at TCC. After that, we went to Maxwell Market and waited for Chin Chew and Elyn to turn up for the KTV session at Party World. They arrived and we had our dinner first than proceeded off to Party World. Soon after we sang a few songs, Sean came in and joined us. I guessed I sang quite poorly for tonight. The karaoke mania lasted till 11pm. It was still early for Paul and me to head back home, so we dragged Chin Chew along for a drinking session while Elyn and Sean went on separate ways. Our dear Paul got his salary this week, so he ordered a bottle of Vodka for us all. We sat and watched the World Cup while we enjoyed our drinks, it was an exciting match I must say and the match was on Ghana vs Czech Republic, the final outcome was Ghana ass-raped Czech Republic with a score of 2-0. Haha, most of the drinkers there supported Czech while I guess only the 3 of us plus a handful of other party goers supported Ghana. After the match, we went for a late night supper at the Kopitiam across the street than went back home shortly after a filled stomach. That's all for tonight folks. Was amazed that for the first time, I'm looking at something that once lived millions of years ago right in front of my very eyes. Funny thing was when I saw the raptor, it was quite small in size actually, not like the ones you see in the movie "Jurassic Park" and the T-Rex was the main attraction, Jesus, that beast was huge in size. Imagine if you add in all the muscles, flesh and skin! It'll be a killing machine! No doubt of its given name "Tyrant Lizard". I was fascinated with dinosaurs when I was a kid so I found this excursion a fruitful one and not to mention educational as well, every cent of mine was guaranteed for this once in a lifetime experience. I've also attached some pictures for those who are viewing my blog. Hope you'll enjoy those wonderful pictures! Now, I'm an official civilian. When I collected my pink identification card and walked out of the main gates of my camp after 1730hrs, I had a sudden feeling of homelessness. I can't bear to leave the Army, I felt that it was a more suitable life for me and I'm still feeling it the same way now. Tried to sign on with the Army a few months back but was rejected due to my qualification level and PES status. Now I truly feel isolated in some remote pits joining those whose souls are gray and knows neither victory nor defeat. The sensation is worst than flames licking your naked skin for eternity. During the process of collecting my pink identification card, the battalion clerk whose dealing with my release would punch a hole on the chip of my green military identification card to signify that the card will no longer be valid for use. After the hole was being punched on the chip of my military ID, I saw not only the hole on the card that existed before my very eyes but I actually felt the hole harvested in my heart and soul as well. I wonder when will my nation call upon me to render my services again, to converse and work alongside with old comrades-in-arms, to sit in cookhouses and have meals together, to hear our Company Sergeant Major's voice roaring like thunder in the skies, to hang out at the all joyful yellow box, to see the smiles and frowns of brothers in arms. The words in green will be a poem thought of by me and I would like to dedicate it to the men and officers I served with in 1GSMB: 3GSMC and EMC. Adios!

There comes a time where all men must meet as one,
There comes a time when one will stop in the hunt,
There comes a time when one will ponder on what he has done,
There comes a time when one's brothers say unto him, "You have done enough",
There comes a time when one feels those words were rough,
There comes a time when his brothers sent their half,
There comes a time when one will say unto his brothers, "It's time I walk the freedom path",
There comes a time when one looks back and shouts, "My fortitude and loyalty shall and will never falter towards our hard earned ground."

Weeeee......

10.06.2006

Met Paul at our frequent drinking place to watch the world cup. Haha. We supported Paraguay instead of England but Paraguay lost to England by 1-0. Sad man, luckily we didn't bet. During the half-time of the match, I asked Paul if he wanted to join me for the horror movie "Silent Hill" but he didn't wanted to so I left the pub and poor Paul alone just 20 minutes before the game ended because I got to meet up with Allan and get the movie tickets ASAP as it's status was "selling fast". To compensate poor Paul for being all alone, I asked the waitress to bring out what's left over in my bottle of Macallan whiskey. Than headed for Tiong Bahru Plaza to meet Allan. Brought 2 tickets to the movie "Silent Hill". It's a horror movie created from a game-based story line. Although I haven't played the game yet but I found that it's quite a finely done movie. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Being the same old Allan and same old me, we didn't got shocked or scared, instead we were joking through some parts of the movie. Hahaha, we were damn lame anyway. Just incase if Paul is reading this, I would like to say sorry for leaving you behind bro, hope you'll understand. I was at my usual drinking place when I saw a friend, working in that pub, smooching away with another girl he knew just minutes ago and his poor girlfriend doesn't even know about it. Really breaks my heart when I see people not being loyal to their other-half. It's quite a difficult occurrence for two souls to meet and maintaining a 3 years relationship with each other is harder than hard given the standards these days in Singapore. So I spent many hours trying to talk him round and awake his senses. His girlfriend was also someone I knew of whose working in the same pub as he is and I really pity her after I came to know of this incident. Hopefully what I preached goes into his head. I'm just plain disappointed, I thought he was a man worthy of my respect but I was wrong. No words could describe how I'm feeling tonight. I mean if it was someone else whom I do not have any affiliations with whatsoever, I wouldn't care. But both the guy and the lady were people whom I knew of. I even asked if he was drunk but he said no. So I carried on to comment that his heart was. I felt that the heart and soul of men is getting weak. So weak that they were disillusioned and choose to climb out of their beliefs, faltering in their faith and decisions. An ironic case on how men reacts to problems when they face them, they could stand the test of time yet they couldn't stand each other. I guess I should turn in now and let their fates worry for themselves as I have put words into the mind of a disloyal man, All I have to concern was that I have done my utmost duty as a friend to rekindle their relationship as one. She was picking off cigarette butts from the container fixed atop a green rubbish bin. At the same time while I was smoking, I was also looking at her actions and I thought, “WTF’s up man?” Than she asked if I had a stick to spare her, so I gave her my entire pack, which still consisted of 4 sticks of cigarettes. She said it was for her mum and continued to say that her husband was in prison and she didn’t had the money to buy a packet of cigarettes for her mum. After she completed her sentence, I told her not to pick off left over cigarettes as it’s not hygienic and I also told her if her family doesn’t have enough money, she should persuade her mum not to smoke and recognize her family’s situation. My bus came a few minutes after I finished conversing with that lady. I waved goodbye to her and boarded the bus.

Reached my destination and was walking over to the cybercafé while I tried to light up a cigarette which I just brought from the convenient store near the bus stop but my damn lighter died down on me so I had to borrow a lighter from a smoker I saw along the way. Succeeded in lighting up my poison, that smoker who gave me a helping hand was actually a promoter of a sales garage and requested if I would like to go in and have a look around. I told him I got to wait for a friend of mine at the cybercafé, which was just a block away and promised to return and have a browse. My friend, Mr. Paul reached by 5.35pm while we agreed to meet up at 5pm. Hahaha, old habits die hard eh. As promised, we went back and checked what the garage sale was all about; it was located on level 2 of the block. Nothing caught hold of my eye thus I did not purchased anything. Mr. Paul got himself a February 2006 issue of FHM magazine. Haha.

We went back to the cybercafé to work on my blog, the end results was a big fat 0 because he said it was quite a tedious job and told me he will work on it when he’s in the office next Monday.

Both of us walked over to Sunshine Plaza to have our lunch. We ate wanton mee and ordered a bowl of wanton worth $3. It was a damn scrumptious meal. Whoever’s reading this blog of mine should really make it a point and have a shot at the wanton mee there. Especially the wantons, it’s god-sent!

Shortly after our lunch ended, we went came up with an ad-hoc plan to visit the National Library down Victoria Street. It has been some time since I last went down to a library and we haven’t been to this new one ever since it’s relocation. It holds a metropolitan look from the outside and a chicly look from the inside of the building. Quite stylish I should say. Well anyway, both Paul and me picked a book off the shelf and started reading after we moved and explored around. We left the reading corner at 8pm than we continued to further explore the other levels of the building. We came across this very vintage typewriter and camera. I took photo shots of both the items on display. After that we went up to level 13 of the building; the highest level available to us, the 14th level was out of bounds except for authorized persons. Boy oh boy, the view of the urban landscape was magnificent; we could even view Suntec City and The Esplanade from where we were! Took some photo shots of the scenery as well.

After exiting the National Library, we traveled to the Esplanade by foot. We came by a 7-11 outlet and brought some drinks along the way. We saw some band performance going on up the white stage. Guessed the arts festival has commenced in Singapore. We found a place where we could sit, relax and enjoy the breeze. We were chit chatting and drinking away the night. There were quite a lot of beautiful ladies that kept our eyes occupied as well. Haha. I was famished when the time showed 12am, so Paul and I went for supper at a hawker near the Esplanade. I ordered a plate of oyster omelet for the both of us and a plate of Roti John for myself. When supper ended, we went back to the rows of seats near the bay of the Esplanade and waited for the right time to head back home, which was 1am. When that time came, I saw Paul up the nightrider first before I took a cab home.

Soon after the cab got to my destination, I headed to the level of my block. Once I got out of the lift, I saw a cat near the stairs. I think that poor thing was injured or something because I could clearly spot a wound manifested on its hind legs. I went back home and opened a can of sardines and pour it on a plate than brought it out and left it on the floor near the stairs for the cat to munch on. I truly hope this simple gesture would assist the cat in a speedy recovery and resume hunting the neighbourhood pest like the cockroaches and rats again.

I guess the most meaningful event for the whole night would be feeding that injured cat near my home. Other events are just for fun, joy and laughter. Haha. Adios!

Time Flies

02.06.2006

I started to clear my outstanding leaves since the start of 9th of May and now it’s June! As a result, I took numerous photos and even learnt some things regarding myself. I’m a person who owns a lot of stamina when it comes to hiking for I could travel on foot for some long distances, how did I knew about it? Hahaha, I came to know about it because my navigational skills were poor even with a well-coordinated map on my possession and I love to see every birds that the park has got to offer thus I came to know of my “gifted” stamina thanks to those unnecessary long distances that I traveled. Guessed I stayed there for approximately 5 hours? Well, I had much fun visiting the park since it was only my 3rd time there. I was still a kid when I last visited the Bird Park, couldn’t forget that we went there as a family at that point of time, with my Father still around.

Upon leaving the park at 4pm plus, I made up my mind to watch a movie before I went for a drink at the usual pub. Reached The Grand Cathay at around 5pm. Went up to the box office and checked up on movies featured by Cathay. After some thoughts, I than brought a ticket to the movie “Benchwarmers” showing at 6.40pm. It was a comedic movie and I kept laughing in the theater like nobody’s business. Hmmm… thinking of yesterday reminds me that I’m seldom this happy while I was alone.

With the movie ended at 8pm plus, I walked over to Prinsep Street for a drink. Still had a little gin left in my bottle of Bombay Sapphire, enough for perhaps say, 8 glasses? But anyway, I ordered 2 glasses of Hoe Garden beer before I went for Gin Tonic. I was feeling tipsy after I downed to 2 bottles of beer and 8 glasses of gin, I was than about to leave after finishing my last glass of gin when one the pub’s shareholder came in, his name was Joelton and he shouted, “Hey Brother! Long time no see!” That sentence was the beginning of the end for me yesterday night. He begged me to drink along with his group of friends and himself. Whatever I drank yesterday night was all on him. Since there were free drinks and I was lonely, I felt well, why not?! So he got me a glass of Gin tonic before I went up to level 2 of the pub and looked for him. He introduced his friends but not the females sitting along with them, haha, I guess they must be their girlfriends or sometin. We were all drinking whiskeys while I was getting along with them. I swore I was damn drunk after everything ended at around 2am. During the process of drinking, singing and chit chatting, I went to the washroom and threw up twice and I threw up again once I reached home. I thought I was going to die of alcohol poisoning! Sighs… what a night to remember. Anyway, I would like to thank Joelton for the drinks that were on him last night. This feeling of solitude where I’ve often live with has overcome me at times. Knowing that I have only 2 or so friends has at least comfort me momentarily. Some people that I have been acquainted with suggested that I join a church group so that I could expand my social circle but that’s so wrong in my opinion. How could one join a religions group just for his or her individual purposes? Immediately, I disagreed with them, because you go to such places to pray and renew your faith, nothing more and nothing less and since my soul answers to no God, there isn’t a need for me to visit such holy grounds. The sound of silence is just deafening, it’s like a drum beating in your ears and I couldn’t bear with it at times. I feel like an empty shell walking without a soul in me and I often walk on the streets alone. I used to have so many friends out there whom I could speak with and hang out together but that’s no longer possible for we have lost contact with each other. How I wish that at times like these, there would be people around to speak and relate to. My family members do not have the luxury of time to spare on me because of their work commitments thus we often have communication failures. Maybe I’m just born this way, without anyone by my side, it’s just painful sometimes and no one knows the pain that I’m going through, I always tell myself, that maybe I’m just growing up and this is just part of the process. I might be mistaken after all. It’s just me. I do not have the slightest idea on how to commute with people that I know, my friends often find me a quiet person. Damn it, I should just get over it ASAP if not I’ll fall into a depression which is not something I want to experience. Adios!

Generation X

30.05.2006

The Government and General Public alike, has constantly been pointing out one of the many problems we face in Singapore; the increasing numbers of political apathy amongst many youngsters of today. This “negligence” will be deemed dangerous as time goes by. Politics is in no doubt a factor that cannot be forgone by the generation of the young. Why do I say that? It’s because with our older generation MP’s gone in the future, who will be the ones to continue leading this Country to greatness? Surely we can’t hire foreign talents for that!

Not long ago before the General Election 2006 came, I was shocked to learn from a survey that some youngsters in their early 20’s who do not even know how to recite their Singapore Pledge in full or not even coming to know of other political parties besides the infamous PAP (People’s Action Party)! Maybe our present generation’s ignorance is caused by the luxurious lifestyle that we’ve adopted lately. Right after Singapore gained her independence on 9th Aug 1965, people started to get more political conscious not only on home politics but as well as international politics, perhaps our current generation isn’t facing problems like what the newly independent nation of Timor Leste is facing now, that explains why our contemporary generation has that mentality of “If it ain’t broken, there ain’t a need to fix it.”

It isn’t only the Government’s sole responsibility for imparting national awareness to the young as a whole, it also involves with our teachers, parents and friends as well. I could vividly recall those days when I was attending primary school, that we had Social Studies lessons for only once a week and that one lesson only lasted for half an hour, which I seriously doubt it’s enough and our Social Studies teacher was not very enthusiastic in teaching that field since his outlooks and attitude appeared grim during that lesson. That makes national education never the more interesting to us but somehow I still managed not to fall asleep and tried to absorb everything that he has taught. I also did some self-studies in the Library on national education!

Parents plays a vital role in this field too for ignorant parents breeds ignorant offsprings, they should often remind their children of their roots as Singaporeans, encourage them on Nation Service if your child is a male, celebrate National Day with them, hold discussions on politics during dinner times or watching the daily news together. All these practices start from young! I recollected once, when I got high grades for my Social Studies, if memory still serves me well, it’s a band “A” which I scored but in contrast to my Chinese and Mathematics, I scored quite badly. After my mum and aunt have reviewed my report book, they commented badly on my results and asked why have I scored so highly for Social Studies and not for my Chinese or Mathematics, so I told them it was my interest yet they carried on to say that this Social Studies subject was useless and it will bring me nowhere. My aunt gave a sarcastic remark after I got a good whipping by a cane for my poor results, that remark has never left my mind till this very day, she said, “See! Most of your friends pass with flying colors, why you come back with a grade “A” for your Social Studies only? Want to become a Historian or a Politician one day ah? Don’t day dream la… it’s impossible.”

Friends are also influential when it comes to national awareness, I shall show you some form of examples, just take a look at some of my Friendster’s photos, some of it are taken with friends from different races, friends from the Army and long time buddies, these are signs that we are living together as one people, one nation and one Singapore, regardless of race, language or religion. Out of the 5 defenses in our “Total Defense Program” This is the one known to us as Social Defense. We live together without racial boundaries, share cultures as if we are part of it, cohabiting together in a HDB building peacefully and helping each other out in times of need. It’s not easy to come by such a scenario as many other nations around the world are still having racial and religious dispute.

Mark my words; if this situation carries on for another 80 years or so in Singapore, the entire decision of voting will be jeopardize because politically speaking, our youngsters are not sure of who should they vote for and political apathy would be classified as a national danger!

So, to you youngsters out there somewhere, think about it, stop being a person who holds no knowledge of politics or current affairs, you are never too young or too old to start getting involved! Adios!

Thoughts....

29.05.2006
Yet another uneventful day for me as I’m rotting at home while clearing my outstanding leaves before I get discharged from the Army. Had some thoughts a few moments ago, I was pondering on social issues regarding obesity.

Ok. It seems to me that the overall society in Singapore holds some prejudice views against fat people. I mean what the fcuk man, come on, it’s not a sin, you want to talk about world peace and racial harmony. Talk about harmonizing my fat @ss first before jumping into the racial and world peace segment! World models do talk about world peace, but do you actually see them peace out with fat @sses before they mention those “Holy Words” and look! They have slimming centers all around Singapore but do they setup something like a weight increase center whereby they stuff you with food for each session you attend. I’m talking about those who are considered way underweight and looks $hitty like their fatty counterparts? The answer is NO! For fcuks sake, of course not! Why should they do that? Because those slim and self centered rednecks wouldn’t want more fatty people to be added into the society, they are afraid that we might conquer over MRT seats, finish up food faster than the world could produce or simply crushing them with our weight. Yea… they are scareeee… so scare that I even spotted slimming centers located in the heartlands of Singapore. Whenever fat boys goes out with slim girls, there would be many eyes staring at those kind of couples and thinking, “Why must a beautiful flower be planted on a piece of $hit?” My heart defers from those comments and the thoughts in my mind upon encountering such a sight would be, “You rock boy! You’ve made fat people proud.” And guess what?! Fat people could sing better than slim ones, now that’s a solid fact! I have a dream man!…. I dream that the slim community would let loose of their ego and share a tasty pizza with the fat community man… Someday, I really hope that there’s an excellent spokesperson whose willing to step out and protect the dignity of obese people, somebody to represent us and speak for us, that’s what I call world peace! Last but not least, I would also like all skinny people still with an ego towards fatty’s to look at my statement below. Adios!

“Attention to all you real slim shadys out there! We meat sacks are not public enemies or enemies of the state for we are just plain fat! You get that u fcukers?! Just FAT and it ain’t a crime you @ssholes, being fat does not warrants a death penalty you sick piece of skinny $hit, so stop avoiding us as if you seen a ghost or sometin! Yes, this is an ultimatum issued to fcukers like you out there. If you don't fancy it, here are some options for you gangbangers."

Hide in your $hithole whenever you see us. (Be warned, a $hithole is a place where the sun doesn't shine)

Confront us straight in the face and stop being a pu$$y by talking behind our backs. Got 3 books by the title of “Politics for dummies”, “Stress Management for dummies” and “Depression for dummies”. I’m quite into psychological stuff these days, that’s the reason why I got the latter 2 books than I went for a drink at my frequent hang out at Prinsep Street and now I ‘m at a cybercafé working on this blog entry. Nothing eventful occurred today so I’ll be heading back home after this to get started on the books that I’ve brought earlier. We went in and browsed through the IT shop at level 1, the price of the USB cable quoted by the sales person was $96. My buddy told the sales person that we would take a look around first before deciding if we wanted to get the USB cable. As you know, places of such, requires bargaining or “scouting” in order to get what you want at the lowest price possible. We than proceeded to level 3, we entered another one of those IT shops to have a look, than a sales person came forward to offer his services, so my buddy told him what I wanted and that kind soul brought us to where all those bluetooth cables were stored. There were different types of bluetooth cables, ranging from $16 to $30++ and we were like, “wooow!” and of course, we went for the $16! Haha…after purchasing my goods, we went off to the coffee shop at basement 1 to check out how my phone works, before reaching our destination, we needed to bypass the first shop we visited earlier at level 1, and believe me, we really gave that shop a long weird stare. Hahaha. While enjoying a drink at the coffee shop, my buddy taught me on how to use my troublesome Nokia phone and sent me a few wallpapers and screensavers as well! How kind of him.
After an hour and a half, we decided to head for Bugis Junction, upon reaching, we saw some performance going on outside of the shopping mall, and guess what?! It’s the “Never Say Die” performance whereby some rejects from a channel 8 singing cum acting contest tries to make it big and we saw that Steven Lim, yea, his as disgusting as ever and we also spotted Kim Ng as she was hosting the event, she’s 1 hell of a gorgeous babe! We didn’t stay for long though. I accompanied my buddy for his lunch at the food court.
When my buddy’s stomach was all filled up, we went to our usual drinking place at Prinsep Street. We had a few drinks while I proposed my project designs to him. Yes, those were the designs that I’ve been grumbling about in my past few blog entries. Completing the presentation came as a relive to me however, I wasn’t sure if my buddy was listening to all of it as he appeared to be quite in a “stoned” mode and said that he needed time to digest my ideas but he said that the main page of the forum which I’ve redesigned have made an impression on him. For that, I really wish to defer, as the main attraction does not lie on the forum’s main page itself. It’s the stuff that I’ve intergraded together with the forum as one. That is what I call attractive and not to mention addictive as well. Maybe the new ideas requires quite a huge amount of bandwidth to support it and thus does not seem possible as the fees for the monthly bandwidth subscriptions will go up as well. Nevertheless, I have done my best and the ultimate decision will lie with the administrator himself a.k.a The GOD.
Downed a couple of drinks before my stomach begged me for food and since I haven’t eaten sushi for quite some time, we proceeded to a sushi outlet and indulge ourselves with some nice Jappo food. The bill stated a grand total of $30++.
It was only 10+pm and it’s still early to get back home on a Saturday, so we went to the newly renovated Cathay Cineplex to have a look and guess what? It’s my buddy’s first visit there! Although the 0030hrs slot was under the “selling fast” status, we still wanted to have a go with the movie “X-Men 3”. We got 2 tickets for the second front row. Our time indicated that it was only 2230hrs and we had 2 more hours on our hands before we could enter the theater, so we went on to Starbucks located at level 1 to chill out and have a cup of coffee. Once 0020 came, we went up to theater 1, also classified as “The Grand Cathay”. The theater seemed to have a majestic look for its interior design. Well, I guess that’s worthy of the name “The Grand Cathay”. Now, I wouldn’t want to comment much on the movie, as I’ll be deemed a spoiler after that. Haha. Anyway, it’s a film that’s worth your money and time because I certainly enjoyed it and likewise, my buddy enjoyed it too. Alright, I shall stop typing now, getting tired already. It’s a function for personnel who are about to be discharged from the Army. The event kicked off at 1445hrs but I reached Camp at approximately 1100hrs. Went there early to hang out with old comrades and take a stroll around my Company. During the function, our S1, who’s a DXO, was giving the speech. He said that CO was on course and couldn’t be here, so S1 had to take CO’s place for the whole duration of the function. S1 talked about reservist live and thanked us for our contributions towards our Unit. After the speech, there was a little souvenir to be given out. All of us lined up to have a handshake cum receive a souvenir from S1. Shortly, we returned to our seats and there was this Malay guy from another Company who sat in front of my buddies and me proceeded to open the box. To his amazed, he found a mug and said in a loud tone, “Wah! Serve Army for 2 years only get 1 mug ah?” I smiled in my heart but did not laughed out loudly like the rest did. I think S1 also lum pah pah lan. We had some light refreshments before the function came to an end. Almost everyone kept whacking the chicken wings, haha… like hungry ghost festival! Everything ended at 1540hrs and I headed back home since I was still on leave. Now, come to think of it, days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and months turned to years and with a blink of an eye, it’s time for me to leave the Army after my mandatory service of 2 years. There are some people I would like to thank during the course of my service. First in the line would be my PC (LTA Admern Chee) for understanding his subordinates and making the Company a better place to live in than I would like to thank my direct superior, Mdm Nithya for grooming me to becoming a diligent soldier, followed by 2SG Adeline for showing me the ropes on how to handle stuff in the store and LCP Subra for taking over my workload and letting me have a peaceful month before I get discharged from service. I would also like to extend my thanks to the Army for molding me into a responsible person I’m today. Without them, there's surly bound be difficulties in discharging my duties during my term of serive. Thank you guys, you all rock! Adios!

Another day has gone...

25.05.2006

Went for a haircut this evening, now I’m feeling fresh. Was quite excited initially but got irritated at the later stage as I didn’t fully understood on how to utilize all it’s functions. Even tried the instructions manual but to no avail toward an IT dinosaur like me, I notice something at lease, they gave me a disk to upload stuff on your PC but they didn’t freaking give me a USB cable to go along, without the USB cable, how do you expect me to download my stuff into the PC? Using my “little brother” as USB cable? Forget it, when Saturday comes and I’ve submitted the proposal to my buddy, will also get him to help me analyze this piece of metal with me. Damn… I'm feeling unwell again, my freaking throat is starting to hurt all over again ever since I just recovered last week from that same virus. Sigh… I still got a project to work on. Luckily it’s 80% completed. Maybe I’ll recuperate by resting for today than work on the project tomorrow and hopefully, I’ll be feeling better by than. I’m pretty excited once the dateline has reach for me to propose the project. Hmmm… have been so busy lately that I couldn’t find any spare time for a swim. I hope my work pays off, or else all my effort goes down the drain. You know, like some major cooperate organizations, their high end bosses often ask you to scrap the projects or designs you took so long and so much sweat and blood to complete just to redo another one, which is a super ugly one and fits his liking. I hope the admin of that forum is not a person of that sort. Hey… anyway I’m not on his payroll, why am I saying all this? In the first place, I volunteered to help out a place and a friend I like, liking my concept is a whole different thing. Well, maybe I should just try and do my best for a friend, like it or not, it’s totally up to them, at the end of the day, I’ll just say it in my heart, “I’ve done my very best.” Got to continue working on my designs, it’s only 60% percent completed. I dreamt during the process of my sleep, what I dreamt about has totally got something to do with the project I’m working on for the past 1 week and I have got another week till the dateline reaches. It’s a designing project to revamp a forum, to bring it from the dead to the living (I had a difficult time figuring how to do it). In that dream of mine, a stranger sat with me outside of Burger King at Millennium Walk having lunch and chatting about revamping a website with me. He mentioned something about integrating some stuff, (which I couldn’t afford to leak it out over here, sorry guys). After I woke up today in the early afternoon, I manage to recall that dream immediately, unlike other dreams, I tend to forget them after I rose up from bed and only recurring after a few moments later. Now, I’m working on the project designs where I got the idea from that dream. The dateline is on 27.05.2006, which is this Saturday!!! Oh… and I would like to thank the stranger in my dreams for giving me such a wonderful idea. Weird dream but thanks! Need to rush to complete my project now. After a few drinks the lady when to the washroom in the pub while the guy moves over to have a chat with an Italian guy and his female counterpart. They were discussing about the movie, “The Da Vinci Code”, the local guy who went over to converse with the lady suddenly said, “Oh, my Pastor said that it’s a sin to watch this movie and doesn’t allow his church members to watch it.” At first, I was thinking if his one of those fanatics I have come across once in awhile while the bartender whom is also a friend of mine said, “ I think it’s ok to watch this movie regardless of what religion you are in as long as your faith is strong enough.” What he said was quite true, it’s just a movie for god’s sake, why sum it up to such a big deal. After that, the local guy said, “My Pastor said whoever watches it, will surly go down to hell.” And I thought what kind of crap was his Pastor trying to preach? Was it a necessity to enter hell for watching a movie? Who was he to judge? Yet I dared not intrude him for I wish not to discuss about politics or religious matters for it may turn sour at the end of the conversation or even worst still, embroiled into a fight. When the conversation ended, the local guy went back to his seat to accompany his girlfriend and ordered a glass of beer and lights up a cigarette in between his fingers. Now Ladies and Gentlemen’s… isn’t that something ironic? He can’t watch a movie but he could drink and smoke, something that would harm his health. Isn’t he going to hell for that? Isn’t God going to punish him for that? The very first word that surfaced into my mind was the word, “Contradiction”. Well… I guess it’s a joke isn’t it? Or maybe his pastor didn’t preach anything about self-harm. Alright, I had just enough of crap tonight, got to turn in to refresh myself for the next day.
